One or two short sentences per bit — age 5.
A merchant hurries to the market. One nail in the horseshoe is loose. He waves it off: "Tiny thing—speed matters!"
Halfway, the wheel goes "click." The nail falls, the shoe tilts. The cart creeps along; the market clock already rings.
The merchant rubs his nose and laughs: "I saved half a minute checking—and lost a whole morning." He fetches a hammer and sets the nail firm.
Next trip he crouches first: "Is the nail tight?" The wheels run steady, and he arrives early.
