1磨坊的少年汉斯很穷，却很勤劳。路边一只小花猫说：帮我三年，我会谢谢你。Hans, a miller's boy, is poor but hardworking. A little calico cat by the road says: help me for three years, and I will thank you.
2汉斯每天给猫梳毛、送小鱼、收拾小窝。小猫呼噜呼噜，和他一起晒太阳。Every day Hans brushes the cat, brings little fish, and tidies the nest. The cat purrs and sunbathes with him.
3三年到了，小猫轻轻一跳，变成一位善良的公主。她说：你守信又温柔，这是你应得的礼物。When three years end, the cat hops once and becomes a kind princess. She says: you kept your word and were gentle—this gift is yours.
4公主带汉斯去干净的小房子，两人种花养鸡，邻居都说：互助的人最幸福。The princess takes Hans to a clean little house. They plant flowers and keep chickens, and neighbors say: people who help each other are happiest.
